nT101 Final Reflection - Poole 1 Reply

The "My Portfolio Basics" and "My Portfolio Advanced" have, for me, been the meaningful portions of this netTrekker training. At first I was worried about being limited to only the websites with…

Having already been introduced to Nettrekker in depth, I was not sure what else there was to learn. I realize only now that I had only a mere glimpse of the tip of the iceberg. I see huge learning op…

I found that the 21st Century skills module was my favorite and the one that I hadn't spent much time researching before this class. I enjoyed this module and all the resources that I have found and will continue to find as I use it more. I love the email feature in my portfolio so I can easily share resources I find with my colleagues, parents, and even students. I have already found myself relying on netTrekker more than I did before for web resources, and I know it's because this class was broken down into manageable pieces for indepth coverage and study.

I have spent the last few years having my students use Nettrekker as their first search engine. I haven't utilized any of the resources available. After this eight week course, I am thinking through all of my lessons, and how they could definitely benefit by having some other things implemented into the units. I am so excited to begin having my students use effectively this resource that is provided by the district. I have already started sharing with other teachers the different items that I have found and am already using in my room.

The thing I will take away most from NetTrekker 101is saving searches, navigating folders, and putting templates right into the folders. It is so great to direct students to a folder where they can read the assignment, follow the directions and do a self directed activity. They can work at their own pace and because the site offers so many added features for differentiation, I can just let the students explore and learn as much as they can.

Being a part of the Nettrekker training was a great experience. For so long, I have thought it was just the default start-up page for the district, some service that we subscribed to that was geared to younger grades and not high school. Looking at the search refinement features and the twenty-first century channel, see now the various uses. I can see a clear use for these tools.

Being a facilitator of netTrekker myself nt101 was a very good review and extention of my knowlage of what netTrekker can really do for educators and students around the world. I learned some new features and uses that I had not previously gotten into before and got some much needed refreshment on features I thought I knew. I feel much more prepaired to answer any questions that my clients have and feel more confident in how netTrekker can be used.

Each lesson really offered something worth sharing with teachers that could facilitate learning in their classrooms. I've seen several teachers have difficulty understanding the concept of 21st Century Skills and how they relate to their classrooms and their students. The CyberSmart resources and the 21st Century Channel provide precise methods teachers can use to promote the learning of these important skills.
Prior to becoming involved with this course, I had no idea that Nettrekker provide so many layers of learning.
My experiences in this course will help me provide meaningful training sessions in the effective use of netTrekker.

I am so glad I took the time to go through this course. By applying myself and finding all the available resources I will better be able to help the teachers in my service center area as we roll out this state initiative! What I really found helpful was that there are resources for everyone no matter what or how they teach. The most valuable resources to me were the read aloud features and the ability to change the language in a passage if you have an ELL student. I learned a lot and will use it often!

Nettrecker is amazing! The resources are fabulous and it's easy to differentiate. Our school has a subscription to Nettrecker but I never used it because I wasn't sure how to navigate through all of the resources. One of the best features is being able to have a class go to a file and explore a topic.

Looking forward to learning even more neat ideas about using Nettrekker. Nettrekker 101 was a very interesting course.

I signed up for nT101 to learn to use My Portfolio. I have met that goal and much more. As I learned, I created/updated lessons that will be used in the coming school year.
